Islandside Yacht Sales is more than a business to founder Joe Sciuto. To Joe, yacht brokerage is a rite of passage passed down from his father, mentor and 50-year industry veteran, Dick Sciuto. From the tender age of six weeks old (when he embarked on his first boating trip to the island of Cuttyhunk with his dad), Joe has been intrinsically connected to the water.  Since that early expedition, Joe’s life has been defined by hard work, success and saltwater. After attending Tabor Academy, affectionately known as the School by the Sea, he worked with his father to learn the art of yacht and boat sales. While Joe’s passion for the boat brokerage field was undeniable, he was interested in learning even more. That drive led him to the Roger Williams University School of Law where he earned his J.D. degree with a focus in admiralty and maritime law. However, Joe knew his true calling wasn’t in the courtroom. Instead, he divided his newly acquired knowledge of contracts, negotiations and dispute resolution between yacht brokerage and the insurance industry. Little did Joe know when embarking on these various endeavors that his years of accumulated marine, sales and legal experience would culminate in the creation of what is now Islandside Yacht Sales. Joe currently resides with his wife and two young children in the seaside town of Padanaram Village in South Dartmouth, MA. During the summer months, they can often be found floating between Cuttyhunk, Marthas Vineyard and the other Elizabeth islands on the family boat.

I grew up in South Dartmouth, MA spending summers on the water long before I could even walk. My family has always been heavily involved in boating so it was only natural that I too would eventually find myself immersed in that world. I started out in the junior sailing school at the New Bedford Yacht Club, progressed to the racing team, and eventually became a sailing instructor. Through the years I have had the opportunity to helm, own, and maintain a wide variety of craft from power cruisers to one design sailboats.

Over time I began helping friends and family conduct the purchase and sale of various boats, learning how to read and interpret surveyor’s findings and negotiate on their behalf. These experiences eventually led to my desire to pursue a career as a yacht broker, something I have had the good fortune to be a part of for the better part of five years.

I thoroughly enjoy introducing people to the right boat for their needs and guiding them through the process. Whether buying or selling, I look forward to providing an honest and friendly experience to my clients.

Originally from South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Sean grew up experiencing summers at the local beaches and time spent out on the water coasting around the Elizabeth Islands in his dad’s 1986 HiLiner. When he was not milling around the coast, he was participating in various sports all throughout his childhood. He would eventually switch focus to football and lacrosse in high school and continued on to play at the collegiate level at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. At Mass. Maritime, Sean studied Marine Engineering and graduated as a U.S. Coast Guard licensed marine engineer. Sean currently lives in South Boston, Massachusetts.

Sean has teamed up with Islandside Yacht Sales to continue to work in a field that truly interests him. As a boater himself, he understands that everyone has their own individual needs when selecting a boat that is right for them. Sean is looking forward to the challenge of pairing clients with the boat of their dreams that accurately fits their lifestyle.

Kevin Murray grew up on the shore of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin where he enjoyed boating on freshwater lakes and rivers. After high school, he joined the US Air Force, traveled Europe extensively, and had a unique opportunity to become a member of an Italian boating and fishing club. Having explored and fished the rivers and tributaries of the Adriatic Sea, just north of Venice, needless to say, were priceless.

After his military service, Kevin moved to Massachusetts, obtained his engineering degree, and enjoyed a rewarding and humbling 20+ year engineering career on the frontier of drug therapy development for rare genetic diseases worldwide. Kevin spent his spare time trailering his sport boat to as many coastal water regions as possible, thus ultimately leading him to reside in Westport MA.

While continuing his career, he realized a shortcoming of how to safely and neatly stow the second stern / storm anchor aboard when not in use, hence AnchorSuit® was developed and patented. After spending nearly all of his vacation days attending boat shows successfully promoting AnchorSuit, and meeting industry marine experts from around the world, a paradigm shift began to occur from the corporate career to a marine and boating lifestyle career.

During those years Kevin successfully transitioned from full-time corporate to full-time marine industry with experiences working as a yacht broker, working for a super yacht outfitter based in Florida.

Kevin’s breadth and scope of professional experience, as well as his personal drive, are just a few key tenets as to why you can call upon him as a trusted and caring resource for your boating needs.

I grew up in South Dartmouth, MA and from an early age, I have had a passion for boating and the ocean. I began sailing at the age of six at the New Bedford Yacht Club and eventually moved on to racing one design, as well as PHRF class boats. I also became a sailing instructor to pass down my love of the sport and my passion for the water to the next generation.

I currently reside in Barrington, Rhode Island, and hold my 25 Ton Masters license. I am actively working towards my Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation at Massachusetts Maritime Academy and will obtain my United States Coast Guard 3rd Mates Unlimited license.

I have extensive experience in both the operation and mechanical aspect of power and sailboats and currently own a restored 1976 Mako 23’center console. I strive to provide honest and straightforward service to those that list their boats with me, as well as for those seeking to find their next vessel. I look forward to working with you!
