Islandside Yacht Sales is more than a business to founder Joe Sciuto. To Joe, yacht brokerage is a rite of passage passed down from his father, mentor and 50-year industry veteran, Dick Sciuto. From the tender age of six weeks old (when he embarked on his first boating trip to the island of Cuttyhunk with his dad), Joe has been intrinsically connected to the water. Since that early expedition, Joe's life has been defined by hard work, success and saltwater. After attending Tabor Academy, affectionately known as the School by the Sea, he worked with his father to learn the art of yacht and boat sales. While Joe's passion for the boat brokerage field was undeniable, he was interested in learning even more. That drive led him to the Roger Williams University School of Law where he earned his J.D. degree with a focus in admiralty and maritime law. However, Joe knew his true calling wasn't in the courtroom. Instead, he divided his newly acquired knowledge of contracts, negotiations and dispute resolution between yacht brokerage and the insurance industry. A Little did Joe know when embarking on these various endeavors that his years of accumulated marine, sales and legal experience would culminate in the creation of what is now Islandside Yacht Sales. Joe currently resides with his wife and two young children in the seaside town of Padanaram Village in South Dartmouth, MA. During the summer months, they can often be found floating between Cuttyhunk, Martha's Vineyard and the other Elizabeth islands on the family boat.
I grew up in South Dartmouth, MA spending summers on the water long before I could even walk. My family has always been heavily involved in boating so it was only natural that I too would eventually find myself immersed in that world. I started out in the junior sailing school at the New Bedford Yacht Club, progressed to the racing team, and eventually became a sailing instructor. Through the years I have had the opportunity to helm, own, and maintain a wide variety of craft from power cruisers to one design sailboats.
Over time I began helping friends and family conduct the purchase and sale of various boats, learning how to read and interpret surveyor’s findings and negotiate on their behalf. These experiences eventually led to my desire to pursue a career as a yacht broker, something I have had the good fortune to be a part of for the better part of five years.
I thoroughly enjoy introducing people to the right boat for their needs and guiding them through the process. Whether buying or selling, I look forward to providing an honest and friendly experience to my clients.
Originally from South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Sean grew up experiencing summers at the local beaches and time spent out on the water coasting around the Elizabeth Islands in his dad’s 1986 HiLiner. When he was not milling around the coast, he was participating in various sports all throughout his childhood. He would eventually switch focus to football and lacrosse in high school and continued on to play at the collegiate level at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. At Mass. Maritime, Sean studied Marine Engineering and graduated as a U.S. Coast Guard licensed marine engineer. Sean currently lives in South Boston, Massachusetts.
Sean has teamed up with Islandside Yacht Sales to continue to work in a field that truly interests him. As a boater himself, he understands that everyone has their own individual needs when selecting a boat that is right for them. Sean is looking forward to the challenge of pairing clients with the boat of their dreams that accurately fits their lifestyle.
Jamie is a seasoned boater with deep-rooted connections to the maritime community of Buzzards Bay. Growing up in South Dartmouth, MA, Jamie’s passion for the water was cultivated at an early age, influenced by a family history rich in seafaring traditions—from whaling captains to swordfish harpooners and competitive sailors.
Spending his childhood cruising the waters of Buzzards Bay, Jamie developed a love for both sportfishing and sailing. His father owned Buzzards Bay Tackle in the heart of Padanaram Village, a well-established shop that further fueled his passion for fishing. Jamie went on to become a respected fishing guide, earning recognition on some of the largest sportfishing shows.
Jamie’s sailing career began at the New Bedford Yacht Club and continued at the University of Rhode Island, where he raced competitively and met his wife, Caroline. His lifelong connection to the marine industry led him to a successful decade-long career as a Product Manager in the marine sector. Additionally, his experience as a licensed captain in the sportfishing industry and his extensive network in the boating world provide him with a unique advantage in helping clients find the perfect vessel to fit their lifestyle.
Today, Jamie resides along the Slocum River in South Dartmouth with Caroline and their two young children. During the summer months, you’ll often find them cruising aboard their 37’ Mitchell Cove “Buzz”, exploring the Elizabeth Islands. With a lifetime spent on the water and a deep understanding of boats and their owners, Jamie is dedicated to helping his clients navigate the yacht buying and selling process with confidence and expertise.
Growing up in Scituate, MA, I developed a lifelong passion for boating, spending many years navigating the coastal waters from Florida to Maine. My experience spans operating and maintaining a wide range of vessels, from commercial lobster boats to powerboats up to 74 feet. As a USCG-licensed captain, I have spent the past several years delivering multiple yachts between New England and Florida, navigating complex coastal waters under a wide range of weather conditions.
After a successful career in corporate IT leadership I’m now focused on sharing my love of boating with others. Friends and family frequently come to me when they are thinking about buying or selling a boat, trusting my advice and guidance because of my extensive boating experience. I continue to immerse myself in the boating community by working in various marine-related roles, including operating local launch boats, running private charters, and working at marinas. These experiences have strengthened my connections within the boating community and further enhanced my ability to provide valuable insights to boaters of all experience levels.
I love talking to fellow boaters and hearing stories about their adventures on the open ocean. I especially enjoy helping those who are just beginning to explore the world of boating, guiding them to find the right style of boat that fits their goals and dreams. Whether you’re selling your boat, moving up to a new one, or buying your very first vessel, I’m here to make the process seamless and enjoyable.
